Masking Tape 6mm

Tamiya Masking Tape 6mm with Dispenser (87030)

The Hobby Hideaway Verdict: Pinpoint Accuracy for Tight Curves and Fine Trim! When you are laying down intricate racing liveries, masking off narrow window frames on a 1/28 scale Mini-Z body, or painting fine trim on a 1/10 scale trail truck, standard wide tape simply won't make the turn without wrinkling. At Hobby Hideaway, the 6mm Tamiya Masking Tape is our go-to secret weapon for tight-radius detail work. While wider hobby tape is great for blocking off large panels, this slim 6mm roll acts as your "border tape"—giving you the flexibility to trace sharp body lines, wheel arches, and pinstripes while guaranteeing a crisp, bleed-free edge.

Ultra-Thin Precision & Refillable Convenience Crafted from the same legendary Japanese paper as its wider siblings, Tamiya's 6mm tape is ultra-thin, supple, and remarkably strong. Because of its narrow 6mm footprint, it conforms effortlessly over compound curves, recessed panel lines, and tight aerodynamic contours without lifting or bunching up on the inside edge. The model-safe adhesive holds tight against polycarbonate, acrylic, and lacquer sprays, yet peels away cleanly without leaving sticky residue or pulling up cured base coats. Plus, it comes pre-loaded in a clear plastic dispenser with a built-in serrated cutter, protecting the edges of your roll from workbench dust that could ruin a delicate paint line.

Key Features & Technical Specs:

• Precision 6mm Width: The slim 6mm profile is specifically suited for outlining curves, masking narrow window trim, and laying down clean pinstripes.

• Razor-Sharp Paint Lines: Ultra-thin paper construction prevents paint ridges and stops spray paint from creeping underneath the edge.

• Hugs Tight Contours: Easily bends around complex body curves, recessed panel lines, and rivets without lifting.

• Residue-Free Adhesive: Formulated for unpainted or painted plastic and polycarbonate shells, peeling off cleanly without staining or lifting base coats.

• Protective Dispenser Included: Housed in a reusable plastic case with an integrated cutter to keep the tape edges clean in your pit box.

• Refillable 18m Roll: Includes 18 meters of tape and can be easily reloaded using Tamiya 6mm Masking Tape Refills (Item #87033).

Hobby Hideaway Pro Tip: For the cleanest multi-color paint jobs, pair this 6mm roll with your 18mm Tamiya tape! Always use this narrow 6mm tape first to lay down your exact border line along curves and body creases—it bends much more smoothly than wide tape without creasing. Once your 6mm border is burnished down tight with a cotton swab or wooden toothpick, use the wider 18mm tape to overlap the back edge of the 6mm strip and cover up the rest of the large body panels. You get the curve-hugging accuracy of a narrow tape combined with fast, full-body coverage!
