Summer RC Build Camp: Build & Drive Your Own Tamiya Grasshopper! Dates: July 27th – July 31st, 2026

Dates: July 27th – July 31st, 2026 Ages: 10+ Included in Registration: 1/10 Scale Tamiya Grasshopper Kit, a beginner's tool set, and all required electronics (radio controller, steering servo, speed controller, battery, and charger).

Unplug and step into the exciting world of Radio-Controlled racing! Over five days, participants will develop real-world mechanical skills by building their very own iconic Tamiya Grasshopper from the ground up. This hands-on camp teaches everything from reading instructions to wiring up live electronics.

The 5-Day Build & Drive Game Plan:

Day 1: Getting Started & The Engine Room

• Welcome, tool safety, and learning how to read the building diagrams.

• Putting together the rear gears and assembling the sealed gearbox.

• Installing the electric motor and attaching the whole rear driveline to the main frame of the car.

Day 2: Suspension & The Brains of the Car

• Building and attaching the rear shock absorbers.

• Learning battery safety and charging up our battery packs.

• Powering up the radio controller and centering the steering system so the car will drive straight.

• Installing and wiring up the electronics that control the speed and steering.

Day 3: Building the Front End

• Assembling the front steering parts and axles.

• Building and attaching the front suspension arms.

• Mounting the heavy-duty front bumper to protect the car from crashes.

• Installing the front springs to finish the suspension.

Day 4: Tires, Details & Final Checks

• Assembling the wheels and stretching on the front grooved tires and rear paddle tires.

• Bolting the wheels securely to the car.

• Making final mechanical tweaks to make sure the steering is perfectly aligned.

• Adding the finishing touches: building the driver figure, putting on the racing stickers, and attaching the outer body shell.

Day 5: Time to Race!

• We put the tools down and head out to drive!

• Instructors will teach the basics of using the controller, managing speed, and taking corners safely.

• Campers will test their builds, make any final adjustments, and have some friendly races to see their hard work in action.

Space is limited to ensure a focused, hands-on environment. Every participant keeps their car, electronics, and tools!
