The 8.5mm Low Profile Slicks from Reflex Racing are crafted from a remarkably tough, long-lasting rubber compound designed specifically to match the grip envelope of their popular 30-degree rear radials. At Hobby Hideaway, we love the 40° compound for its ability to cut a little bit harder on corner entry while remaining buttery smooth through the middle and exit of the turn.

40° vs. 45°: Which One Do You Need? Tire hardness completely changes the handling dynamics of your car. If you are struggling with your chassis being too aggressive or twitchy mid-corner, the 40° slick is your answer. It provides a sharp, precise turn-in but smooths out through the apex and corner exit. Conversely, if you want more grip in the middle and exit of the turn, the 45° compound would be the better choice. It all comes down to tuning to your specific driving style!

Mounting and Break-In Options Reflex Racing engineered these to be incredibly versatile. For a no-hassle setup, simply mount these on a Reflex Racing Speed Dish Wheel with a 22.6 plate and let them break in naturally over a few laps. If you prefer to true your tires for maximum consistency right out of the gate, bring them down to 22.7-22.8mm on your truer. Because the material is exceptionally durable, they may feel a bit aggressive during the initial break-in period, so pairing them with freshly skimmed 30-degree rear radials is highly recommended to balance the chassis.

Hobby Hideaway Pro Tip: If you choose to true these tires, the hard rubber compound requires a specific technique. We recommend running your tire truer so that the tire and the sanding drum are spinning away from each other. If you are using a PN Racing truer, you'll find the most success running the machine in reverse at around 6V. If you skip the truer and find the car too aggressive mid-corner on a fresh set, try dialing out some camber or dropping to a softer front spring until they break in!
